Role Overview

The Delivery team sits on the critical path of the product, working on new features that have C‑suite buy‑in. We are looking for a technical leader to guide the Delivery Engineering team, building a strong, healthy team while ensuring excellent execution. This is a player‑coach role: you will be accountable for your people’s growth and productivity, set up good processes and cross‑team communication, and stay hands‑on by regularly writing and reviewing code.

Key Responsibilities

People Leadership

• Recruit, mentor and grow the team: build a diverse team of engineers and support their career growth and productivity.
• Foster the right culture: promote collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Own team accountability: make sure everyone can accomplish what they have been assigned.

Technical Coaching & Contribution

• Coach hands‑on: guide code design and implementation, pair program and review tricky PRs to help the team move forward.
• Contribute code: write new code, review your reports’ code and help design code improvements.
• Help architect the codebase: understand and shape the architecture of the code the team is responsible for.

Planning, Delivery & Vision

• Drive initiatives from idea to delivery: balance long‑term platform health with short‑term needs and bring projects to completion with reliable, high‑quality outcomes.
• Shape the roadmap: define and evolve platform capabilities for future growth, working with Product Management to align with company goals.
• Establish processes: create good inter‑team communication patterns so the team stays aligned with other teams and business objectives.

Operational Excellence & Quality

• Build scalable, reliable and secure systems: use metrics and postmortems to continuously raise the bar.
• Champion quality: push the team to treat quality as a foundational element of valuable code.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally: partner with Product, Design, Security and other Engineering teams on projects that span multiple teams.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Must‑Have (Hands‑on)

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2–3 years in engineering management.
• Proven player‑coach track record: leading people and teams while still making hands‑on contributions to code, architecture or design.
• Technical expertise in domains involving high throughput and distributed systems.
• Experience designing and running distributed systems and multi‑tenant SaaS platforms on modern cloud providers.
• Hands‑on expertise across the stack: microservices in Python and Elixir (GraphQL, REST, gRPC), React/TypeScript frontends, PostgreSQL and Cloud Storage, Redis and Pub/Sub, and observability with Cloud Logging, Monitoring and Sentry.
• A history of recruiting and retaining great engineers while fostering an inclusive and collaborative culture.
• Operational mindset: monitoring, alerting, incident response and building systems that meet strict SLAs/SLOs.
• Strong communication and influencing skills, able to translate technical trade‑offs into clear options for business partners.
• Comfort with on‑call participation, ensuring business‑critical systems get timely attention.

Secondary Skills

• Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience is preferred.

Education / Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Work Mode

Hybrid — This role adheres to the organization’s hybrid work policy, requiring presence at the office on three designated days per week.
