Role Overview

STG Labs is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to build backend services for a marketing platform that some of the world’s most prestigious brands rely on. You will work on products built for serious scale, with the autonomy to make decisions and the influence to set standards the team builds on. As the team grows around you, you will also mentor engineers and help raise the bar on quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Design & Delivery

• Design and ship backend services end‑to‑end: from the API surface to the data layer and backend workers.
• Shape architecture across services and data: balance performance, scalability and maintainability against technical tradeoffs.

Technical Leadership & Mentoring

• Set coding standards: define the practices the wider team follows and builds on.
• Mentor engineers: support the team through code review, design discussions and pairing.

Reliability, Quality & AI‑Assisted Engineering

• Drive reliability and quality: take part in incident response and push improvements that last.
• Use AI effectively in daily work: apply it well in your own work and help the team get the most out of it.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Must‑Have (Hands‑on)

• 7+ years building and shipping software products
• Proficiency in at least one of Python, Go or Elixir
• Strong working knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL)
• Experience designing and building APIs (REST, gRPC or GraphQL)
• Experience with event‑driven systems (Kafka or similar)
• Strong distributed‑systems fundamentals: concurrency, consistency models and fault tolerance
• Experience scaling stateful systems: partitioning, caching and consistency
• Experience managing services in production: observability, safe rollouts and cross‑service debugging
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, particularly GitHub Actions

Education / Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Work Mode

Hybrid — This role adheres to the organization’s hybrid work policy, requiring presence at the office on three designated days per week.
