Role Overview

STG Labs is hiring a Senior AI Engineer to own the architecture, delivery and evolution of its enterprise AI platform within the AI Center of Excellence. This is a high‑ownership role focused on applying AI at scale: designing the systems, patterns and infrastructure that make AI work reliably in production, rather than building models from scratch. You will lead a team of engineers, make key technology decisions and work directly with business stakeholders and leadership to turn organisational goals into AI‑powered outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Technical Leadership

• Design end‑to‑end AI application architectures: integration layers, retrieval systems, orchestration pipelines, prompt management and output evaluation.
• Define enterprise standards for RAG systems: hybrid search strategies, knowledge graph integration, memory and context management, and multi‑stage retrieval.
• Architect multi‑agent platforms: agent orchestration patterns, tool use frameworks, human‑in‑the‑loop workflows and failure handling at scale.
• Lead LLM platform decisions: model selection, API provider strategy, fallback routing and total cost of ownership.
• Design cloud‑native AI platforms on AWS / GCP / Azure: selecting the right managed services, integration patterns and data flows.
• Establish AI security and compliance practices: data privacy in prompts, PII handling, access control, audit trails and responsible AI controls.

Delivery & Operations

• Own production AI systems end‑to‑end: monitoring, observability, cost tracking, alerting and incident response.
• Define and enforce LLMOps practices: prompt versioning, evaluation pipelines, output monitoring and model upgrade strategies.
• Lead performance optimisation: latency reduction, caching strategies, retrieval tuning and throughput scaling.
• Establish AI evaluation frameworks: automated quality checks, human review workflows, regression testing and business KPIs.
• Manage AI infrastructure budgets: optimise costs across multi‑cloud, multi‑model environments.

Leadership & Strategy

• Lead and mentor a team of AI engineers: goal setting, code reviews, technical growth and delivery accountability.
• Define the hiring bar for AI engineering roles: conduct interviews and design technical assessments.
• Partner with product, data and platform teams: prioritise and roadmap AI capabilities.
• Engage with CXOs, business leaders and clients: understand needs and present AI solutions.
• Guide adoption of emerging AI tools and frameworks: identify options relevant to business use cases and support decisions.
• Foster engineering excellence: documentation standards, reusable components and AI development best practices.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Must‑Have (Hands‑on)

• 5‑10 years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years leading AI application development at scale.
• Deep expertise in Python: clean architecture, performance and engineering standards.
• Expert‑level knowledge of RAG system design: hybrid retrieval, re‑ranking, KG‑augmented search, memory and multi‑hop reasoning.
• Proven experience architecting multi‑agent systems using LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI or equivalent frameworks.
• Strong command of LLM application patterns: prompt architecture, tool/function calling, structured outputs, evaluation and cost governance.
• Cloud solutions architect‑level experience on AWS, GCP or Azure: AI/ML managed services, networking, IAM and data pipelines.
• Experience owning production AI platforms with SLA accountability: monitoring, alerting, rollback and root cause analysis.
